Since 1997 Monsanto has filed 144 patent lawsuits at about an average of 13 suits per year. Measured against the 2 million farms, and approximately 960,000 persons claiming farming as an occupation in America,  this number is insignificant.

In a case brought against Monsanto, in February of 2012, evidence was so lacking of  patent "bullying" that thejudge dismissed the case. The fact was that none of the plaintives had any evidence of being sued or threatened, and there was little evidence of over-zealous patent "bullying" on the part of Monsanto.
